More About Nottingham

The first thing that comes to mind when I think Nottingham is: Robin Hood. Is it the same for you? For the non-Brits reading, Robin Hood is a famous outlaw in English folklore. The legend of Robin Hood goes back a loooong way, with references in poetry from the 1300s and written texts from the 1400s. Robin had supposedly been off fighting with King Richard I in the Crusades of the 12th Century. He returned home to find the king's brother, John, had been treating the people of England terribly. What's more, all of Robin's land has been taken by the crown which really pissed him off. So he decided to stick it to the man. He set up home in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire, and devoted his life to robbing the rich to feed the poor. He had a particular hatred of the Sheriff of Nottingham, and whenever he could get one over on him, he did.

Now how much of that story is true, is hard to verify. And admittedly I only know it because Disney did a version! But there is, of course, more to Nottingham than the legend of Robin Hood. The city is famous historically for its lace making and its bicycle making (particularly Raleigh). The old lace making district of Nottingham is in an area just south of Hockley, and features many red bricked, 4-6 story warehouses that have now been converted into swanky apartments, bars and restaurants. Bicycle making was major industry in the city until recently, and in fact Raleigh's factory was found in Nottingham until 2003 when it was demolished to make way for more university buildings. It may or may not be of interest to you, but this author's first and most beloved bike was a luminous green Raleigh Lizard.

Population wise, around 330,000 souls have made Nottingham their home, but this leaps up to nearly a million when you include the city's suburbs and wider area. The city is served by the M1 motorway, and has easy road links to nearby Derby, Mansfield and Loughborough. Not too far away to the North East are Lincoln and Newark, while travelling South on the M1 will take you to Leicester then Northampton. Along with good road links, Nottingham also has good rail links and London is easily accessible by train.

More about the East Midlands

The East Midlands encompasses Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and a funny little place called Rutland. The area thrives particularly as a result of its excellent road links to London, not to mention the East Midlands Airport. The beautiful Peak District can be found within the East Midlands as can the beautiful Charnwood Forest. Some trivia for you: Isaac Newton (good at science) was born near Grantham in Lincolnshire, and Lord Byron and DH Lawrence (good with words) were both East Midlands natives.

Booking a Nottingham Escort

So what's a chap to do when he's travelling on business to Nottingham, Northampton or elsewhere in the East Midlands - should be spend the night alone in his hotel room? Or should be book an independent Nottingham escort to keep him company. We think the latter, and of course booking an independent escort rather than through a Nottingham escort agency, means you can be sure the lady is keeping all of her fee and that no managers are taking a cut. An important consideration for the modern man who is hopefully an ethical consumer of sexual services.
